Loading schematics
The Local tab, the file formats BuildPrint opens and the other ways to load a file.

File formats #
| Format | Extension | Open | Save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Litematica | .litematic | Yes | Yes |
| Sponge schematic (versions 1, 2 and 3) | .schem | Yes | No |
| Classic schematic | .schematic | Yes | No |
| Vanilla structure | .nbt | Yes | No |
| Axiom blueprint | .bp | Yes | No |
BuildPrint looks at what is in a file, not only at its extension, so a .schem saved as .schematic still opens. Files that were not compressed, as some schematic sites hand them out, open too.
Whatever you open, BuildPrint saves as .litematic. It has no file format of its own.
The Local tab #
- Shows the
schematics/folder in your Minecraft folder, with its subfolders. Each folder shows how many schematics are in it. - The files show as tiles with a picture of each, or as a list. The button next to the search box switches. In the list, click a column title (Name, Format, Size, Date) to sort by it.
- The search box looks through all subfolders by name.
- Folder shows the folder, Recent the files you opened last, and the bookmark your favorites. Click the bookmark on a schematic to add it to your favorites.
- Files you add or remove on disk show up in the list right away.
- Select a file to see its size, block count, author and a 3D preview. Drag to turn the preview, scroll to zoom, shift-drag to move it. The preview and the pictures on the tiles are lit by the build itself: shadows, dark rooms and lit lamps.
- Load puts it in your world. A double click does the same.
- Materials shows what the file needs before you load it. See Material list.
- Publish puts it on the Marketplace.
- Delete removes the file from disk. Click it twice to confirm.
Other ways to load #
- Open File... at the bottom of the Local tab opens the file picker of your system, for a file outside the schematics folder.
- Drop a file onto the game window. It loads into the world directly.
- Click Place on a build in the Marketplace.
- Join a session. The builds in it load for you.
/buildprint place load <file>loads a file from the schematics folder at your feet. See Commands.
Several builds at once #
You can load as many builds as you like. Each has its own position, layer view and material list, and can be hidden with the eye next to it in the Loaded tab. The eye next to the search box in the Loaded tab hides every build at once, and shows them again. While all builds are hidden, easy place and the printer pause, and a small card on screen says so.
Builds in other dimensions and worlds are at the bottom of the Loaded list, in folded sections such as In the Nether, In the End and In another world, each with how many builds are in it. The number on the tab only counts the builds where you are, and a search looks inside the sections too. Choosing one says where it is. It shows when you go there.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| not set | Show/hide all builds |
| not set | Show/hide the build you're in |
Remembered per world #
Loaded builds are saved per world and per server, and come back when you join again. On a server this is kept per address and dimension. Two single-player worlds with the same name are kept apart. A build whose file cannot be found stays saved, and BuildPrint says so. See Servers for servers with several worlds behind one address.
